Fake cosmetics: Drug controller from Jharkhand presents offence report in court

Cosmetic items in Jharkhand are under the control of the state drug control directorate and in this situation cosmetic users have to be very careful in choosing the items for the sake of their skin.

An official of the State Drug Control Directorate informed that during the two-day raid, it was concluded that a few items that were illegally used to prepare cosmetic items were seized a few days ago and work is underway to test their purity in a laboratory. Director (Drugs) Ritu Sahay confirmed the situation, saying that the decision to conduct the raid was taken after several complaints of fake cosmetics were received in the office.

“Raids were conducted in Namkum and various parts of Ranchi and many things were seized. Although no one could be arrested, many items used in the illegal production of cosmetics were confiscated. A notice of trespass was filed with the District Court. Documentary work is now underway to register an FIR in this regard,” said Sahay. The official said the raids were conducted at the Ancient Marine Cosmo in Ramgarh. Besides, Ratu Chatti, Pee Pee Compound and other places were also raided.

“Items seized included nail polishes, hair conditioner, hand wash, hair dye powder and perfumes, among others. In addition, hydrochloric acid, black and white disinfectant and toilet cleaner, which are used as ingredients for the preparation of cosmetic items, were also regenerated. The teams also recovered a sealing and punching machine besides a cash document reflecting the illegal trade,” the official said.

Sahay said more raids are planned to ensure that no one dares to carry out illegal trade in beauty products. Cosmetic products manufactured and sold illegally are a major threat to skin safety.
